BAPTISM OF ADULTS
The "Order of Christian Initiation of Adults" (previously knows as "RCIA") is not a formation program but a comprehensive structure, going back to the early church, within which the sacraments of initiation and reception into the Church take place.
At Saint Mark, we consider the unique needs of each person seeking Baptism to find a path that best fits their life circumstances, while maintaining the basic framework of Inquiry, Catechumenate and Election.
When adults (18+) are baptized in the Catholic Church they receive all three sacraments of initiation (baptism, confirmation, eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. The substance of their formation takes place within the context of our Explorers Group, led by our pastor, Father Albert.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION OF ADULTS
If you are a baptized adult and have never received the Eucharist, know that the Lord desires to be in full communion with you.
If you want to move closer to the Church, please contact Fr. Albert [email protected] to go over your situation.

CONFIRMATION OF ADULTS
A similar process is offered for Adults (18+) seeking to be confirmed in the faith. We encourage you to inquire about the Adult Confirmation program with Father Albert at [email protected] or by calling 310-821-5058.
Candidates will follow the Explorer Program.
WE STILL TAKE APPLICATIONS FOR THE CONFIRMATION YEAR 2026-2027.

Adults baptized in the Catholic Church but not confirmed
If you are 18+, baptized in the Catholic Church, but never completed your sacraments, you are invited to join the Explorers Group with Fr. Albert.- Sessions meet bi-weekly beginning in October.
- Attend Mass weekly and contribute to the Parish financially.
This journey is an opportunity to rediscover the richness of the Church and how your gifts can enrich the Church in return.
You will be Confirmed by the Local Bishop in May.

Adults baptized in a Christian denomination
If you are 18+ and baptized in a Christian denomination, please first schedule an appointment with Fr. Albert- You will also join the Explorers Group.
- You may be received into full communion with the Catholic Church when, together with Fr. Albert, you discern readiness to embrace the responsibility of being a Catholic Missionary Disciple.
- You will be confirmed by the Pastor of Saint Mark at a Sunday Mass, where you make the Profession of Faith.

Adults not baptized or with an invalid baptisms
If you are 18+ and either have not been baptized, or your baptism is not considered valid by the Catholic Church:- You will prepare through the O.C.I.A. (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults).
- You will receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.
In all cases, please begin with filling out the Questionnaire for Sacraments for Adults.
